Harness dog sports describe a variety of athletic disciplines that have evolved from the traditional northern more of transportation known as mushing. These disciplines are divided into two seasons; snow and dryland. Snow events include; skijoring, pulka, and dog sledding. Dryland events include; canicross, bikejoring, scooter and rig classes. Harness dog sports are also known in many places as sleddog sports and mushing.  A distinct qualifier for these athletic disciplines is the pulling action of the dog(s) working as a team with their human and possibly other dogs. Some disciplines of harness dog sports are specifically for team of 1 or 2 dogs events and some call for teams of 8 or more.
